Gregg Doyle of CBS Sports evidently thinks so. In response to what appears to be conference realignment mania, he calls for the United States Congress to stop what he thinks is a TV-inspired realignment money grab. It appears that one of his main concerns is that "big schools, state schools" are "in jeopardy of losing millions of dollars by getting checkmated right off the board."
Pardon me for being skeptical about Congresses efficacy to manage anything properly. Dirk Chatelain of the Omaha World-Herald has a good piece featuring salient quotes and commentary from coaches, administrators, and journalists on the issue.
